Ric Flair Calls Out WWE: ‘Worst Move I’ve Ever Witnessed

Steve Rubin, a longtime WWE employee, reportedly parted ways with the company over the weekend, alongside another colleague. The exact circumstances of his departure remain undisclosed. However, his exit has drawn criticism from “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair, who expressed his dismay on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). Flair condemned WWE for releasing Rubin, praising his generosity and contributions to the company.

Flair’s connection to Rubin is unspecified, but they likely collaborated during their time in WWE. Rubin had a lengthy 26-year tenure with WWE, starting as a production assistant in 1998 and rising to the position of Senior Director, TV Event Relations. Meanwhile, Flair is now affiliated with AEW, though he has been absent from television lately.

Rubin’s departure occurs amidst a series of cuts within WWE, including personnel both on-screen and behind the scenes, following the merger with UFC to form TKO Group Holdings. Additionally, legal issues such as Janel Grant’s lawsuit against former WWE executives John Laurinaitis and Vince McMahon have prompted changes at the corporate level.

Since September of the previous year, WWE has released numerous Superstars, including Dolph Ziggler, Shelton Benjamin, Mustafa Ali, among others.
