WWE Exploring Partnerships with Other Wrestling Promotions

Under Nick Khan’s leadership, WWE is displaying a newfound openness to collaborating with other wrestling promotions, marking a significant departure from its previous stance. Unlike smaller promotions, WWE has historically been resistant to partnerships, particularly with perceived competitors like All Elite Wrestling. However, according to a Sports Illustrated report on the WWE President, there is now potential for WWE to explore collaborations with various professional wrestling organizations.

Khan’s approach to collaboration stands in stark contrast to the traditional stance upheld during the four-decade reign of Vince McMahon. Recently, CM Punk revealed that Khan initiated contact with him in late 2023, paving the way for his return at Survivor Series in November. Additionally, Khan extended an invitation to TNA Wrestling in early 2024, resulting in Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace participating in the Women’s Royal Rumble Match. While WWE has historically maintained a policy of limited collaboration with other promotions, there have been rare instances where the Sports Entertainment giant has forged partnerships. In 2022, then IMPACT Wrestling Knockouts World Champion competed in the Women’s Royal Rumble match, similar to Grace’s appearance two years later, with both athletes proudly displaying their respective championships in the ring.

In June 2022, WWE commemorated John Cena’s 20th anniversary since his debut with the company. To mark the occasion, WWE released videos featuring several of Cena’s former adversaries offering praise for the iconic wrestler known as ‘Big Match John.’ Notable figures such as Daniel Bryan, The Big Show, and Chris Jericho, all of whom are currently associated with AEW, were among those featured in the tribute.

In 2012, WWE and TNA reached an agreement that allowed Ric Flair to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the Four Horsemen, making him the first individual to receive this honor twice. As part of the arrangement, WWE granted TNA permission to utilize Christian, who inducted Sting into TNA’s Hall of Fame.
