Jesse Ventura Provides Further Details on Talks with WWE

At a certain juncture, envisioning a scenario where former governor of Minnesota Jesse “The Body” Ventura would entertain the idea of re-establishing ties with WWE seemed implausible. Ventura initially parted ways with the company back in 1990, and apart from occasional appearances over the years, he primarily focused on his political and acting endeavors.

However, Ventura recently disclosed that discussions were underway with WWE regarding a potential new contract. In an interview on 77WABC, Ventura shed light on this development, indicating that such a prospect wouldn’t have materialized under Vince McMahon’s leadership. “I can only attribute this to the shift in the company’s direction. We’re not entirely sure yet [about my role]. They are looking to bring me back as part of their Legends [program]. You know, I’m getting up there in age, and they need the legends. And, well, if you think back to WrestleMania I, there aren’t too many of us left alive.”

Ventura enumerated a roster of individuals from the inaugural WrestleMania who have since passed away, which partly motivates his desire to revisit wrestling, now that he is in his seventies. “I suppose I just want to crack open the door at the end of my wrestling career and see what’s still out there. And it’s not like I’ll be returning to the mic, because, to be honest, I don’t even recognize most of the wrestlers there anymore.” During McMahon’s tenure, Ventura clashed significantly with the former WWE Chairman, their disagreements stemming from various issues such as royalty disputes and McMahon’s failure to endorse Ventura’s bid for the US Presidency.
