WWE is gearing up for the first-ever King and Queen of the Ring event in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia this month, and backstage leaks have revealed significant schedule adjustments prompted by the overseas trip.
Transporting an entire production crew, including the imposing Elimination Chamber structure, overseas is no small feat for WWE. With talents, backups, production staff, and agents all needing to be flown in, logistics become a massive undertaking. While originally intended as a main roster event, King and Queen of the Ring now involves NXT, potentially impacting RAW’s scheduling. Last night’s NXT episode aired live from the Performance Center, with next week’s episode pre-taped due to the impending trip. The decision for the double taping stemmed from the need to take production staff and agents to the Kingdom for the event.
Furthermore, there’s a slight change in plans for the May 27 RAW, scheduled just two nights after the event. Some NXT production workers not traveling will be on standby for the Savannah, Georgia show.
The double NXT taping had its share of last-minute adjustments, with the rundown sheet finalized just an hour before the taping began. This week’s episode was internally dubbed “Rise Of The Young OG,” while the next week’s episode was titled “Fighters Fight.”
Meanwhile, NXT’s 2024 Battleground event on June 9 at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas is already taking shape. The lineup for the inaugural NXT Women’s North American Champion Ladder Match is forming, with Sol Ruca and Lash Legend securing spots. Next week’s episode will see Brinley Reece vs. Jaida Parker and Thea Hail vs. Fallon Henley.
Additionally, the NXT North American Championship will be up for grabs at Battleground, with Oba Femi defending against the winner of the Triple Threat match between Ivar, Wes Lee, and Josh Briggs scheduled for next week.
