Eddie Kingston Clarifies Why Transitioning from AEW Dynamite to ROH Isn’t Deemed a ‘Downgrade’

Early last year, Eddie Kingston was part of a storyline where he temporarily left AEW to return to Ring of Honor (ROH).

This storyline culminated in Kingston defeating his longtime rival Claudio Castagnoli to claim the ROH World Championship. Subsequently, Kingston also won the inaugural AEW Continental Classic, merging the ROH and NJPW STRONG Openweight Championships with the AEW Continental Championship to establish a new Triple Crown accolade.

In a recent interview with Inside The Ropes, Kingston shared why he didn’t perceive his stint in ROH as a negative experience. He emphasized that, to him, ROH wasn’t a step down, as he remained a world champion and continued to perform in the ring. Kingston stressed his approach of giving his all in every match, regardless of the promotion, aiming to deliver the best performance possible. He underscored the importance of avoiding negative labels for shows or promotions, emphasizing that such perspectives could hinder progress.

Kingston reiterated his commitment to entertaining fans, expressing a desire for his championship reign to elevate every event he appears on. Despite fan speculation about his direction in AEW and ROH, Kingston noted that he avoids social media and remains focused on delivering compelling performances.
