ROH Final Battle PPV to Feature Special Match in Tribute to Jay Briscoe, With Participation from Key AEW Stars

The approaching ROH Final Battle event has garnered significant attention as it now features the participation of notable AEW stars on Friday, December 15. Despite lackluster ticket sales, the event promises the culmination of enduring storylines in Texas, highlighted by the ROH Women’s World Championship clash between Athena and Billie Starkz, along with an intense “I Quit” Match pitting Ethan Page against Tony Nese.

However, the latest addition to the Final Battle card brings much-needed star power, as the Blackpool Combat Club is set to face the team of Mark Briscoe and FTR.

This bout serves as a tribute to the late Jay Briscoe, exactly one year after his memorable final match for the promotion. In a recent episode of ROH, Bryan Danielson issued a challenge to Briscoe, Cash Wheeler, and Dax Harwood, with company president Tony Khan officially confirming a “Fight Without Honor” match through social media. Following the announcement, Harwood took to “X” to emphasize the significance of not only honoring his close friend Jay but also fighting on his behalf against the formidable trio of Danielson, Jon Moxley, and Claudio Castagnoli.

With the addition of this special attraction, the Final Battle 2023 card now features the previously mentioned matches, including Athena vs. Starkz and Page vs. Nese. Additionally, there’s the six-man tribute to Jay Briscoe and a showdown between Keith Lee and Shane Taylor. Currently, there’s no indication that the ROH World Championship will be defended at Final Battle. Eddie Kingston, the titleholder, is occupied with the Continental Classic tournament on AEW programming. This tournament is set to conclude with the unification of Kingston’s NJPW Strong Openweight Title and the newly created AEW Continental Title, forming a new Triple Crown Championship.
