Mandy Rose was let go by WWE due to naked photo and video leaks.

Less than 24 hours after abruptly losing the WWE NXT Women’s Championship to Roxanne Perez, Mandy Rose, a former NXT women’s champion, reportedly received a release from WWE.

At WWE NXT Deadline, where Perez won the Iron Survivor Challenge, she was slated to compete for the NXT Women’s Championship at New Year’s Evil on January 4, 2023. Immediately after that match was abruptly shifted to the very next night, rumors about Rose’s standing with WWE erupted on Twitter.

Rose’s release follows a number of nude image and video breaches from her BrandArmy profile, a site that charges for content similar to OnlyFans.

“Based on the material she was publishing on her BrandArmy page, WWE management felt they were put in a difficult situation. They believed it to be outside the bounds of her WWE contract.

However, Rose’s position goes beyond the discussion of the third party deal because of the pornographic content of the paid private images. WWE was adamantly opposed to one of its biggest performers releasing pornographic content, whether it was leaked or not, as it sees itself as similar to Disney as a family-friendly promotion with TV-PG programming.

Vince McMahon ordered the WWE Superstars, who are regarded as independent contractors, give up their third-party contracts (such as Twitch and outside sponsorships) in 2020. The directive sparked intense debate inside the WWE locker room, and presidential contender Andrew Yang even called it out, promising to defend wrestler rights if he were appointed Secretary of Labor.

Later, in 2022, WWE relaxed the embargo on third-party agreements.

In 2021, Rose was transferred from the main roster to NXT, where she joined Jacy Jayne and Gigi Dolin to form the Toxic Attraction stable. Rose led the dominant team for 413 days while carrying the NXT Women’s Championship. During her first championship reign of any kind in WWE, Rose significantly improved both in the ring and on the mic.

Her greatest rating to date was No. 21 in the PWI Women’s 150 in 2022, according to Pro Wrestling Illustrated. Despite her high position, the 400-day champion thought she had been mistreated.

The punishment of Rose by WWE sends a message to the team about the parameters of third-party content and the permissible internet sharing of raunchy images and videos by WWE Superstars. And while Rose will encounter a negative online response, it goes without saying that she is free to make content for money in any way she sees fit. She was a WWE Superstar, thus regrettably, she had to bear the repercussions in this instance.
